Ms. Kiera-May Nash
She is a PhD researcher in the Sociology Department at the University of Liverpool, specializing in gender, education, and misogyny. Her doctoral research examines the impact of single-sex schools compared to coeducational schools on girls’ identity formation and attitudes towards feminism. The study explores whether these forms of schooling function as mechanisms of social control, reinforcing broader norms of womanhood. Her research employs creative and qualitative methods, including collages and I-poems. Alongside her academic work, she has teaching experience through her role as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Liverpool. The research she will present at GWS explores how cultural narratives shape women’s identities and experiences, with a particular focus on how femininity is constructed, regulated, and valued in contemporary society.
