Dr. Perpetua Chinomona
She is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Rhodes African Studies Centre (RASC), Humanities Faculty, Rhodes University, Makhanda, South Africa. As a multidisciplinary scholar, she brings together insights from sociology, and psychology to examine contemporary African social dynamics.
Dr. Chinomona holds a PhD in Sociology, along with degrees in Industrial Sociology, Organisational Psychology, and Psychology. Her research focuses on the intersections of gender, land, and labour in rural Zimbabwe, with particular expertise in agricultural division of labour, women’s land rights, and rural livelihoods. She also explores consumption behaviour and identity construction in African contexts.
Her doctoral research was supported by the prestigious Neil Aggett Labour Studies Unit grant (2020), reflecting the significance of her work on labour dynamics. Dr. Chinomona’s scholarship contributes to critical conversations about gender equality, rural development, and agrarian transformation in Zimbabwe.
